Korra Problems

I’m probably going to get some slack for this but I gotta be honest, I’m so excited every week for Legend of Korra and it lets me down every single time. There is no development, Korra is the same person still since the beginning despite the amount of plot that the show is burning through (yes, it’s been 4 episodes, but look at all the stuff that’s happened. You’d think something would have clicked in Korra’s character by now).

Korra does everything for the wrong reasons, she acts foolishly without thinking, she doesn’t listen to her mentors, she lies to others, she didn’t even apologize properly for wrecking the town OR the air temple relics that she burned from practice (check—she never said sorry!). She really hasn’t done anything at all worthy of a good human being much less a worthy avatar. She has barely a vague idea of what it means to “help” people even though she says she is eager to, though her actions prove that she prefers to beat people into submission more than guide them on the right path. She NEVER considers what’s good for the community, and her decision to help fight Amon were provoked more by refusing to show her fears than to help out because she genuinely believes that it is right. Worst of all, she repeats these traits over and OVER again without learning from them.

How is 12 year old Aang wiser than 16 year old Korra?

And while I’m thinking all of this, the only thing the rest of the fandom is concerned with are the PAIRINGS. -___-;

Because I really love the old series and I want to see more of the avatar universe and its development, I’m going to keep watching (the one-second frames of Toph, Sokka, and Aang were just mean, by the way. I wanted to see more!). Someone tell me if I’m the only person who notices these things.
